African
Diaspora Arts Collective, Inc. (ADAC) is a Philadelphia based nonprofit cultural arts organization
dedicated to the preservation of traditional performing arts from the African Diaspora. Our
purpose is the development of public programs designed to encourage increased levels of appreciation and awareness of traditions
of African people throughout the world. Our focus is on using these cultural traditions to create
change in our communities. In its inaugural year, ADAC undertook Philly African
Dance and Drum Conference 2005, “From the Diaspora”. Followed
by Philly African Dance and Drum Conference 2006, “Sacred Woman”. Subsequent ADAC’s activities include scores of performing arts events, workshops, lectures, summer camps
and educational projects.
The Festival
Philly
African Dance and Drum Festival is a three-day festival that features internationally renowned and local
artist in dance and drum workshops and a performance concert. Other highlights include free dance workshops for children,
vendor marketplace, raw food cooking workshops and an artist community forum.
